APC Condemns PDP’s Declaration Of War Against The Nigerian Judiciary.

APC Condemns PDP’s Declaration Of War Against The Nigerian Judiciary. The Rivers State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, is shocked at how the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] has launched out on large-scale smear campaign on the Nigerian judiciary following very recent court pronouncements that appear not to favour the PDP and their candidates at the various election petition tribunals especially the Akwa Ibom State and Rivers State governorship election petition tribunals. In what is unfolding as an all out war, the PDP National Working Committee [NWC], National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh and the various chapters of the PDP in Rivers and Akwa Ibom States, have already thrown every caution in the rule book to the wind in the way they are casting aspersions on the integrity of respected members of the bench whose only offence is that their meticulous and balanced judgments have exposed PDP’s fraudulent and violent escapades during the 2015 general elections. The APC is worried that a particular media outlet, the African Independent Television [AIT], owned and operated by a PDP Chieftain, has offered itself as the foremost platform for the PDP to execute its insidious smear campaign against the Nigerian judiciary. We would like to recall that prior to last week, the APC have had a number of rulings go against the party and its candidates at the various national assembly election petition tribunals especially for Rivers State where over 90 percent of the rulings favoured the PDP and its candidates.

Breaking News: Rivers State Governorship election has been nullified

The Rivers State Election Petition Tribunal finally read its judgement today, Saturday 24th October, 2015 in the petition filed by the APC candidate Dakuku Peterside against the election of Governor Nyesom Wike.   We brings you the live updates of what went on as at the time of the tribunal judgement of the three-member panel which sat in Abuja for security reasons. 10:41 The presiding judge reviewed the witnesses and stated that Peterside/APC called 56 witnesses and of the respondents: INEC-16; Wike-24; PDP-none.
The panel states that the petitioners submitted three issues for determination. 10:46 INEC argued that the petitioners failed to prove their case polling unit by polling unit in line with Supreme Court earlier decisions.According to the panel, Governor Wike’s final written address on the petition is dated October 14. 10:55 The Tribunal is now reviewing Mr. Wike’s second major argument. Governor Wike’s first major argument is that most of the petitioners’ witnesses gave hearsay evidence, according to the tribunal. Governor Wike’s other major arguments, according to the tribunal, include: Petitioners are required to prove polling unit by polling unit but they only called few polling unit agents. Non-usage of card reader cannot be grounds for nullifying election.
Mr. Wike also argued that the election was free and fair and he was duly returned governor. He asked the tribunal to strike out the petition.
The tribunal states that PDP’s final address was on October 16.
11:02 The PDP argued that the Petitioners leveled allegations of crime against the military whic
h was not joined as a party. The PDP also argued that non-usage of card reader cannot be grounds of nullification of election. PDP thus argued that the petitioners failed to prove their case and case should be struck out.
11:18 The petitioner, Mr. Peterside, argued that the card reader machine was made mandatory by INEC’s guideline and has the backing of the Electoral Act.
11:31 The tribunal adopts only one issue for determination – whether or not the petitioners have proved their case.
11:40 The Tribunal dismisses preliminary issues concerning the competence of the tribunal raised by the respondents. It is now dwelling on its sole issue for determination
11:49 The tribunal restates the petitioners’ allegations inculding poll being marred by intimidation of voters, non-availability of result sheets, snatching of electoral materials, non-collation of results at wards and LG levels etc.
11:50 The Tribunal states that the evidence of the petitioners’ witnesses is relevant and reliable.
11:54 The tribunal states that INEC has the power to insist on card readers. It is not open to anybody to act otherwise – tribunal
11:57 According to the tribunal, Exhibit A9 presented by the petitioners, which is a report by head of election monitoring team of INEC office in Rivers State, Charles Okoye, confirmed the allegations of the petitioners – Tribunal
11:58 The tribunal says card readers were introduced by INEC to ensure credibility and transparency
11:59 We don’t see any conflict between the introduction of card readers and the provisions of the Electoral Act, the tribunal states
11:59 A simple glance of the results (Exhibit A10) showed that the election was not conducted in substantial compliance with the Electoral Act, the tribunal states
12:01 According to the tribunal, an INEC witness said he was not aware of directive by the Commission on the exclusive use of card readers for accreditation.
12:05 According to the tribunal, INEC had directed that if the card reader failed the election should be postponed to the next day.
12:09 According to the tribunal, presiding officers called by the respondents as witnesses said they resorted to manual accreditation because the card reader failed. They said the were not aware of INEC’s directive to postpone the poll under such circumstances.
12:10 The tribunal states that the characters of voters called by Mr. Wike were impugned under cross-examination.
12:15 The voters- Mr. Wike’s witnesses- dodged questions under cross-examination and refused to answer questions on documents the petitioners confronted them with, the tribunal states
12:15 We are in agreement that the evidence of the witnesses of Wike and INEC is incredible and unreliable, Tribunal states
12:17 We are satisfied that the petitioners have proved their case, Tribunal states
12:18 We hereby order INEC to conduct fresh elections within 90 Days.
12:23 Tribunal sacks Nyesom Ezenwo Wike as Rivers State Governor.

Lion Of Nigeria Aka A No nonsense leader when it comes to development
We the Ijaw Youth Federation wants to use this perfect opportunity to congratulate our son, our brother and leader, one of the lions of Nigeria. A man who has displayed intelligence and integrity in leadership in his lovely state rivers state. No politician is actually pure but the ones who works with wisdom works with visible integrity. Rt. Hon. C. Amaechi is a man who really transformed Rivers state at the very 1st term in office and part of his second term in office not until he was been distracted and fought by his brother and the Federal Government of the last dispensation. We appreciate PMB for nominating our brother, a true smart working son with a track record of no nonsense when it comes to development. We thank God for not allowing PMB to listen to the dis tractors and black mailers who also are not pure in their records if we wanna look deep into their performances and leadership style. The pressing of all the political leaders of Niger delta who are frustrated fighting Gov. Amaechi are also corrupt. It takes a bad man to know a bad man. So we therefore call on PMB to check the records of all who are planning Gov. Amaechi down fall. We want to know if they are also corruption free. PMB this is an Appeal from Ijaw Youth Federation.

Nigeria @ 55: Read President Muhammadu Buhari’s Independence Speech

“October 1st is a day for joy and celebrations for us Nigerians, whatever the circumstances we find ourselves in because it is the day, 55 years ago; we liberated ourselves from the shackles of colonialism and began our long march to nationhood and to greatness. “No temporary problems or passing challenges should stop us from honouring this day. Let us remind ourselves of the gifts God has given us. Our Creator has bequeathed to us Numbers – Nigeria is the ninth most populated country on the planet. We have in addition arable land; water; forests; oil and gas; coastline; and solid minerals “We have all the attributes of a great nation. We are not there yet because the one commodity we have been unable to exploit to the fullest is unity of purpose. This would have enabled us to achieve not only more orderly political evolution and integration but also continuity and economic progress. “Countries far less endowed have made greater economic progress by greater coherence and unity of purpose. “Nonetheless, that we have remained together is an achievement we should all appreciate and try to consolidate. We have witnessed this year a change in our democratic development.
“The fact that an opposition party replaced an entrenched government in a free and fair election is indicative of the deeper roots of our democratic system. Whatever one’s views are, Nigerians must thank former President Jonathan for not digging-in in the face of defeat and thereby saving the country untold consequences. “As I said in my inaugural speech, I bear no ill will against anyone on past events. Nobody should fear anything from me. We are not after anyone. People should only fear the consequences of their actions. I hereby invite everyone, whatever his or her political view to join me in working for the nation. “My countrymen and women, every new government inherits problems. Ours was no different. But what Nigerians want are solutions, quick solutions not a recitation of problems inherited. “Accordingly, after consultations with the Vice President, senior party leaders and other senior stakeholders, I quickly got down to work on the immediate, medium-term and long-term problems which we must solve if we are to maintain the confidence which Nigerians so generously bestowed on us in the March elections and since then. “As you know, I toured the neighbouring countries, marshalled a coalition of armed forces of the five nations to confront and defeat Boko Haram. I met also the G-7 leaders and other friendly presidents in an effort to build an international coalition against Boko Haram. “Our gallant armed forces under new leadership have taken the battle to the insurgents, and severely weakened their logistical and infrastructural capabilities. Boko Haram are being scattered and are on the run. “That they are resorting to shameless attacks on soft targets such as I.D.P. camps is indicative of their cowardice and desperation. I have instructed security and local authorities to tighten vigilance in vulnerable places. Source: 36NG blog

Buhari's Ministerial List --- Who Made The List

Senate President Bukola Saraki yesterday received the first set of names of would-be ministers to be screened by lawmakers. The list was presented to him after plenary at about 5pm by the President’s  Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari and Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on National Assembly Matters Ita Enang. On his twitter handle at about 5:20 p.m, Saraki wrote: “I can now confirm that I just received the list of ministerial nominees.” The list was submitted in a sealed envelope by  Kyari and Enang.
The Senate President’s spokesman, Yusuph Olaniyonu, said: “Dr. Saraki, following the tradition of the Senate, decided that the envelope will remain sealed till Tuesday October 6, when during the plenary sitting of the Upper legislative chamber, it will be opened and the list read to Senators.” But sources last night said key leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), ex-senators, technocrats and ex-governors are on the list.
